	Accounting packages are designed initially to produce the Statutory Accounts, not necessarily management accounts to satisfy impact reporting. People should be able to extract the necessary data from the Statutory Accounts to examine the cost of the impacts being made.

	In short, I would say CRM can be helpful but is not essential, and would probably not advise if monitoring and evaluation is the only purpose for CRM. No specific recommendations I'm afraid - there are new ones coming along all the time - as you probably know some can be quite expensive, so worth thinking through the lifetime cost vs. benefit

	Hi Philip - as Jonathan mentioned, I think the focus and data structure can differ between the purposes of impact measurement, donor financial reporting and statutory financial reporting, so I often see organisations using different systems. Specifically, impact reporting often needs to be at the level of individual projects rather than organisation - and it is a bit of an art to be able to aggregate results across a range of projects.
