Navigating the Code of Fundraising Practice online: five top tips
Priya Warner shares tips for navigating the Code of Fundraising Practice online.
Do you know that the Code of Fundraising Practice sets the standards that apply to fundraising carried out by all charitable institutions and third party fundraisers in the UK?
The code has had its first major redraft in almost a decade to improve its style, presentation, clarity and accessibility. The revised code came into effect on 1 October 2019 alongside a new easier-to-use-and-navigate website version.
Here are some top tips to bear in mind when using the code online:
1. Keep an eye out for regional differences
When you see a blue line running down the left hand side of a standard, this tells you that the standard relates to a specific country.
2. Share your knowledge with colleagues
In the top right hand corner of each page there are quick links to Facebook and LinkedIn, as well as email and printing options to help you share relevant information with colleagues and others quickly.
3. Navigate the pages
The left hand navigation menu is static on the page, so as you scroll up and down you will still see the navigation options, making it easy to move around the code.
4. Get to know the glossary definitions
When a word appears in the glossary it is indicated with a dotted line – if you click on the glossary term, a box will open containing the glossary definition.
5. Explore links to other standards and guidance
We’ve hyperlinked content to other parts of the code where relevant, plus to external legislation and guidance.
We hope the improvements to our website makes it easier for you to use the code online.
