Congratulations to Newham All Stars Sports Academy
Newham All Stars Sports Academy celebrated for their efforts and named winners of the Health and Wellbeing category of the East London Community Heroes Awards.
One of the finalists at our last Social Change Awards , Newham All Stars Sports Academy (NASSA), has been announced as the winner in the Health and Wellbeing category of the East London Community Heroes Awards.
The charity has been praised for its efforts throughout the coronavirus crisis, during which its services were adapted and delivered virtually. When its basketball sessions were suspended indefinitely in March, the charity ensured that beneficiaries continued to receive the support they needed through Facetime sessions and phone calls. Daily fitness classes and basketball skills sessions were also streamed by the charity, to help keep people active. The award recognises NASSA’s contribution to the mental health and wellbeing of over 150 vulnerable young people.
The charity has now resumed its face-to-face activity and hopes to continue its good work. NASSA Chief Executive, Natasha Hart MBE, says to us:
“We have placed a huge emphasis on mentoring the young people, both remotely and now in the basketball sessions we can run again. There is so much more to do and the young people need our help more than ever before.”
Well done, All Stars!
