Leading People in Tough Times Insights

Part of our DSC Bitesize Spring Learning.

In this session you will explore some strategies and approaches for applying ‘step up’ leadership in difficult and challenging times for your charity

One-hour online session

Book (Digital PDF) Included: Speed Read: Decision-Making

Why Come?

There’s an old saying in this sector – everything’s changing, so it’s business as usual. OK we might have to accept that as an occupational hazard in charities, but from time to time, we are facing exceptional or unique challenges. In this session we will consider how the people you are leading are responding – or reacting – to what is going on, and how you, as leader, can provide the extra support and impetus needed to get everyone through. The session should also assure you; you are not alone, and tough times don’t last forever.

Who should attend?

This session is aimed at Leaders and Senior Managers of small charities

Outcomes

By the end of the course, participants will have:

  • Discuss the challenges presented by people – and their behaviour – in times of change and uncertainty
  • Identify ways to motivate, inspire and assure when time and resources are low
  • Consider what is making people ‘tick’ and effective communication styles to manage the range of needs

What will it cover?

  • Typical reactions to change and uncertainty and how you can help
  • Creating an environment of support where people can find their motivation
  • Communication: Getting the message right for the receiver
